These days the fear of dangerous dogs has increased. There are reports of dogs attacking people from many areas of the country. After which, following an order of Delhi High Court, the Central Government is in action mode on the breeding of dangerous dogs. The Central Government has banned such dangerous dogs, which include Pitbull, Rottweiler, Terrier, Wolf Dog and Mastiffs. To ban their import, breeding and buying and selling, a letter has been written to the states asking them to talk to the local bodies in their state and get the ban implemented.
What will happen to those who have dangerous dogs?
Actually, the Delhi High Court had directed the Central Government to take a decision after talking to all the stakeholders within three months. In such a situation, people who already have dogs of these species, emphasis has been laid on sterilizing them, so that they cannot do breeding. The species that have been talked about to be banned include about two dozen dangerous species of dogs. Which also includes dogs like Pitbull and Rottweiler.
Why is this step being taken?
In the past few days, cases of pet dog attacks have increased rapidly in many parts of the country. There have been reports of increase in dog attacks from the capital to Kerala. Last year too, there were incidents of dog bites and deaths of people due to their bites at many places.
After these continuous incidents, the Delhi High Court issued necessary orders on the issue of banning and canceling the licenses for keeping dangerous dog breeds like Pitbull, Terriers, American Bulldog and Rottweiler. The central government was asked to take a decision within three months. Now the government is in action mode regarding these dogs.
